If you want to experiment with classic film colors or are impressed by films, this Kodachrome 64 recipe is one of the Fujifilm recipes you should try on your Fujifilm X Series camera.
This recipe was created for the X-Trans IV sensors. It can be applied to the X-T30, X-T3, X-T30 II, X-S10, X-T4, X-Pro3, or Fujifilm bodies that are compatible with the Classic Chrome, one of the most popular Fujifilm simulations used for film recipe creation.
Kodachrome 64 recipe is a film classic suitable for travel, street, and landscape. Is it suitable for portraits? We will find out at the end of this post.
What is the Kodachrome 64 Recipe All About?
The Kodachrome 64 color film recipe was inspired by the Nomadic Mood recipe and is fine-tuned to look like a vintage film roll. This recipe is created with the Classic Chrome-based film simulation.
Let’s get started with a bit of history about Kodachrome.
Kodachrome is an incredible film that was discontinued in 2009. The main reason was that most photo processing labs could no longer develop and print Kodachrome. However, with the rise of digital cameras, many people missed the incredible color saturation of Kodachrome.
In this article, we will look at how you can simulate the Kodachrome effect digitally with the Kodachrome 64 film recipe, although not technically the same as the original film.
Remember that this recipe is suitable for natural light sources. It is also made for people, street life, and so on. It is up to your imagination and your area’s lighting condition.
For Fujifilm X-T5 users, you can test this Kodachrome on the new camera. The X-T5 has the latest X-Trans 5 sensor, so the output might not be the same, but of course, there are no restrictions.

While many Lightroom versions of Kodachrome film filters are available online, Fujifilm users can shoot SOOC and get stunning results without editing.
First, you need to do the following things:
Open your Fujifilm camera, access the shortcut to the film simulation menu to select the Classic Chrome film simulation mode via the Q menu, and make the adjustment with the setting below.
You can save this film recipe by storing the film recipe’s custom settings in the camera for quicker access.
This digital version of Kodachrome 64 was created using Fujifilm film simulation recipes and has a relatively high contrast color process when shooting straight out of the camera.
Is it Suitable for People?
Absolutely. The Kodachrome 64, especially in the natural color option, is suitable for people photography under mixed lighting conditions (natural light, some artificial lights, and when shooting with available shade/haze conditions).
If you are shooting mainly people, check out the Downtown Bloom recipe for portraits.
The Kodachrome 64 recipe also provides nice tones and colors, but only if you don’t look too closely (and it looks great when you do).
Conclusion
The best time to shoot with the Kodachrome 64 film recipe is on a sunny day, during the golden hour or a few hours before sunset. If you are looking for a Classic Chrome recipe, then this is one that you have to try.
This recipe is an alternative solution for older X-Trans IV models and makes it easier for Fujifilm users who cannot use the Classic Negative-based film simulation. This film recipe is select as one of the best Fujifilm recipes I’ve ever created.

For my money, K-chrome 64 is the best all-around recipe. Your version is different (and better) than Fujiweekly. I shoot with a Fuji X100V. What do you recommend for aperture?
Hi, thank you for using this Kodachrome 64 version! 😀 It depends on what you are shooting and your lens, can start with f8-f11 daylight, portrait wide-open aperture and if you want some depth of field for film-look and not every in focus f5.6 and below. Happy shooting!
